The East Highland Way is a new long distance walk that connects the Scottish 'outdoor capital' of Fort William with the 'ski & mountain resort' of Aviemore. In doing so, it also connects Scotland's existing long distance walks, the West Highland Way & Great Glen Way, to the Speyside Way in the North East.
The route travels as direct a line as possible (see map below), using existing tracks and footpaths, and only using minor roads when necessary to continue the way. The route was planned and mapped using digital mapping software, connecting a vast network of existing tracks and paths in an effort to create a continuous long distance walk for everyone to enjoy in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.
